In 2007, when I starting dating The Husband I made my very first World of Warcraft character on his account because we didn’t have internet at home yet. She was a Blood Elf Mage called Sakura (Naruto also being a big thing in my life).
When we got married in 2009, I finally got the luxury of an internet connection, I got my own account and started over.
I created Hinata, a Blood Elf Hunter and she’s been my main homegirl ever since. I’ve made so many other characters over these 7 years but she’s the only one that feels like an extension of me. She is me and I am her. I’m fully aware of how weird and ridiculous this sounds but I can’t explain it.
Azeroth is like going home for me. I’ll often play a free character just to be able to be in the world. For some reason my favourite place is Undercity and the surrounding Lordaeron. The atmosphere and the music and of course my Lady Sylvanas Windrunner. THAT whole story… Yoh, she is my best.
Anyway, I could go on forever but then you’ll be bored. The point of this whole post is that today is finally the day I’ve been waiting for, for 9 years.
I didn’t think they’d ever make a movie. How cool if they did we’d lament and go on killing things.
But they have, and today is that day. I’m excited. I’m pretty sure they did it justice, just from listening to Rob Kazinsky (he plays Orgrim Doomhammer) fanboy over this movie in every interview he’s ever done.
It put me at ease that as a WoW player himself he was happy with the result.
This movie is based on the first game Warcraft: Orcs and Humans but more than that, it’s based on the lore of the Warcraft universe, which is extensive. There have been numerous books to expand upon this that we have a few of.
And so today The Husband and I and a few of our friends who also play will make our way to the Warcraft Geexpo event where I’m almost 100% sure I’m going to cry tears of pure joy while watching this movie.
I’ll be Snapchatting and Instagramming from the event this evening so be sure to follow me on zayaan27 for both accounts.
FOR THE HORDE!
