So apparently my WordPress app hates me and this post was published before I was really done with it by accident. So I’m sorry for all you lovely people who subscribe to this blog that got a half-baked blog post in your inboxes.

On Friday, Robi and I met up in town because:
1. It had been two weeks since we’d seen each other;
2. It was pay day and
3. The Velvet Cake Co had opened a branch in the CBD 
They previously only had a branch in Bellville which was just too far for me to get to. So it fantastic news that they opened a branch at 16 Loop street in the CBD, walking distance from my work! I have been eating really well lately, so I was due a reward.
And while I’m all for eating really well and looking after your health, you also can’t deprive yourself of the delicious things in life because that’s not enjoying life at all!
Robi had a lemon meringue cake cup and I had a dark chocolate and caramel cake cup. They also sell lovely cold pressed juices which was really refreshing on a hot day. There’s also coffee because how can you have cake without a hot beverage? They are missing tea from their menu though.
The shop is small but quaint. There’s a display case with all the cupcakes and cakes on display. And also a stand where you can buy cake decorations to put on cakes that you make.
If you order cakes online, you can collect at the CBD store too.
This was a cute idea. You can buy a friend a cupcake and they can redeem it when they come to the store. So you buy a slip, write a message, pin it to the wall and then Tweet/Instagram/tag them on Facebook and done!
It’s a great way to buy your loved ones yummy treats without having to transport delicate cakes around and they also get to have them fresh!
Of course I had to take something home for The Husband so I got a Red Velvet cupcake, Milktart cupcake and Sweetie Pie cupcake.
It’s really worth the trip and a good option if you’re looking to treat someone yourself come pay day or the weekend or whenever you want to treat yourself. Don’t let me tell you how to live your life!
I simply love this place and the milktart cupcakes are my favourite!!!! 😉
