March has been a rather chill month with me being on leave for 2 whole weeks. And then getting back to the rush of things and life and stuff. I promise I’ll get better at timing these posts because I realize it’s almost a week into April already and March is nothing but a far distant memory. But it’s nice to reflect, you know?
So here are the things that filled my March with happiness!
Fresh off the Boat
You guys, I love this show. It is laugh out loud hilarious and the mother is my best! I’m always excited about stories from other cultures that are not your regular American/European stories that make up the a lot of the entertainment we consume. In high school one of my favourite books was “I Heard The Owl Call My Name” – it was about an Anglican vicar who is sent to a Native American tribe. I was fascinated learning about how they lived. But I digress, this show is different and it makes me laugh like a drain.

One and Only High Tea
For my birthday we went to the One and Only for a high tea and it was so damn delicious! Just look at this spread:
The Afternoon Tea is served from 14:30 – 17:30 and it’s R195 including an endless supply of tea and coffee. Visit their website for more info.
Lush Each Peach bar
The Husband got me this as a birthday gift and it’s so damn luxurious! It’s a bar of lotion. A BAR OF LOTION YOU GUYS! It glides over your skin so smoothly and it has wonderful citrus smell. According to Lush’s website “Each Peach is super emollient and moisturizing for the skin; but it also gives a good glide when it is being worked over and massaged into the body.” And they are not lying. I smell so nice and feel so fresh after a shower.
Cloth Nappies
We’ve been using cloth nappies almost every second day now. We’re still building up our stash and we have disposables that need using but it’s going great! Even The Munchkin prefers it over disposables. He tends to fight me when I put a disposable on and when he sees I’m putting a cloth on he doesn’t fuss as much and then runs to the mirror immediately to check himself out. It’s very cute! The washing is not a mission at all because we try to include other laundry we have in the load so it’s not a “waste”. We have enough for two days now so we’re going to see how that goes. Might up it to a 3 day stash next month. We’ll see how it goes.
The Baths
I love this place so much. It was the best part of March for me. I was relaxed, rejuvenated and I got to spend quality time with my two favourite guys! If you want a great way to switch off from technology and reconnect with your heart people this is definitely the place to go!
Trial By Fire
I read this when we were at The Baths and I finished it in the 4 days we were there. I couldn’t put it down. It’s a YA but before you slam the door on the genre, hear me out. Well, wait – firstly, it’s a fantasy novel, so if that’s not your flavour you can go ahead and slam that door. If you’re still interested it’s about a girl who gets pulled into a parallel world and has to face off against the alternate universe version of herself who is kind of a B. Oh, and she’s also a witch. Whaaaaat? By then end of the book I was Googling when the next one is coming out and it’s only in September this year which is basically forever. The author Josephine Angelini is by far one of my favourite YA authors. I also loved her previous book series, Star Crossed.
Double Chocolate Malt Cookies
I can’t get enough of these. I’m making another batch for this weekend but I’m making an almond and white chocolate variety so heads up to any of my cousins who bother to read this!
You can find the recipe here!
The Munchkin’s Favourites:
The Munchkin’s favourites this month include this remote controlled car his dad got him. Also, taking apart his bike and putting it back together again. Both of which you can see in this picture:
He loves books and reading. He loves hugging the cats when he can get hold of them. He suddenly loves pulling all of the blankets on to himself and also off of me. He’s also saying a lot more words now: book, bike, Daddy, sies, Mama (sometimes), more, there, that, ball.

Oooh! I’ve been looking for a new YA book to read since I finished the Divergent trilogy. I guess I’ll give this series a shot 😀
