Ramblings, Things I love

What the hell is a Hufflepuff?!

Let’s just get this out of the way. I am a Harry Potter – what is the word, fan seems to flimsy of a word and I hate the word stan. The love I have for these books run deep. I can’t explain it to you and I’m not going to. Because if you get it, you do. And if you don’t, well there’s no helping some people.

So when Pottermore went live four years ago, I was THERE! At the front door waiting on my owl from Hogwarts. Now everyone wants to be in Gryffindor right? It’s the heroes house? Well, I got sorted into Hufflepuff (that’s where all the fat people go right? – SHUT UP!) Cedric Diggory begs to differ. Anyway, I was confused at first but then I embraced it because the more I read about Hufflepuffs, the more it seemed to fit. How did Pottermore know me so well? Magic!

Hufflepuffs are trustworthy and loyal. We don’t shoot our mouths off, but cross us at your peril; like our emblem, the badger, we will protect ourselves, our friends and our families against all-comers. Nobody intimidates us.

First of all, let’s deal with a perennial myth about the place, which is that we’re the least clever house. WRONG. Hufflepuff is certainly the least boastful house, but we’ve produced just as many brilliant witches and wizards as any other.

Then there’s the common room:

It is round and earthy and low-ceilinged; it always feels sunny, and its circular windows have a view of rippling grass and dandelions. There is a lot of burnished copper about the place, and many plants, which either hang from the ceiling or sit on the windowsills. You should sleep comfortably. We’re protected from storms and wind down in our dormitories; we never have the disturbed nights those in the towers sometimes experience.

It’s basically a hobbit hole. Sign me up!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

This is just the ultimate experience for any Potter fan. Recently my friends Zeenat and Kabir were lucky enough to visit and they had a fantastic time! All their pictures made me so jealous but I was happy that another Harry Potter fan was living her dream. And being the amazing friends that they are they brought me back this Hufflepuff mug. I am so happy I could vomit/cry/dance – not at the same time because that could get messy. Because I also have an obsession with collecting mugs! I would do a whole separate post but I think I’m weird enough as it is.

Now excuse me while I go make the biggest cup of tea!

I’m lucky Zain indulges my collecting! He almost banned me from buying anymore once.

I think I might be turned on right now – hahaha. And whoever reads this comment and does not know me… I know how creepy that sounds.
