Homeschool Series: The Adventure Clubs App

So it’s been a week since we started homeschooling The Munchkin and I’m not going to lie, it’s not been easy. The Munchkin is not a great listener which is frustrating to say the least. But we’ve been having fun because the curriculum we’ve chosen, The Peaceful Preschool, is easy going and play based. I’m finding out what he likes doing (arts and crafts) and what he struggles with (listening and sitting still) and trying to find fun ways for him to learn.

I’ll give it a few more weeks before I give my opinion on it all. But in the mean time I’ve found a great app to help in the social part of homeschooling. It’s called Adventure Clubs and it’s my new best friend. It’s not exclusively for homeschooling though, there’s so many great adventures happening on the weekends and public holidays as well.

Last Monday I signed The Munchkin up for a gymnastics class because he’s a kid that needs to expend energy. And man, he had such a fun time! When we left he said “Mommy, I loved that class!” and he hasn’t stopped talking about it since.

What is Adventure Clubs?

It’s a free app where you can find all kinds of activities for your kids to participate in. From gymnastics and art classes to visiting the fire station and going for nature walks. The best part is that it’s with other families with kids in the same age range.

Adventure clubs

Some of them you have to pay for and some of them are free. You pay in-app for whatever the adventure costs and then the ticket is loaded in your app. You can also see who else is going and you’re able to invite or share the adventure with anyone you want to come with you.

And if an adventure you want to participate in is full just hit the Notify Me For A Spot button and you’ll get a notification if someone drops out.

It’s so simple and so fun. My kid gets to socialise with others and learn something at the same time. Because here’s the thing, kids are constantly learning through play. Whether you think so or not, some sort of skill is being developed while your child is playing.

I love that there is such a wide variety of activities to choose from and so many adventures as well. The Adventure Clubs app offers four kinds of adventures: Community (created by anyone on the app), Clubhouse (created by the Adventure Clubs team), Premium (created by adventure hosts), and VIP (created for VIP Pass families).

Adventure Clubs is all about making childhood memories while your kid is learning and having fun at the same damn time. That’s value, y’all.

Adventure Clubs is available in Cape Town, Joburg and Durban.

Download it on the Google Play store or the Apple App Store for free.
