Get your kids more books!

I love reading. You may have noticed. A few moms have mentioned to me that when they became mother’s reading was put on the back back burner. And when The Munchkin was a newborn, I have to admit that so did I. I didn’t have the hands to hold a book and I was too in awe of my kid to even look away from his face for too long. Also, I didn’t have the mental capacity to concentrate for that long.

But eventually I got back into it because I want it to be something I pass on to my children. The best way to do that is for them to see you doing it. They are such copy cats at this age so reading with me is something that happens sometimes.

His first book set was from Priddy books and he still pages through them especially the one with the cars, trucks and trains.

Some early morning reading…

But slowly his library is being built up. Favourites include The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child, Room on the Broom and now what he likes to call “Duck!” that we got in his Kids Book Club bag this month.

reading with dadYes, he’s eating KFC Pops. You know what you can do with that judgement. (Put it in the garbage)

While I have my list of books that I want to get for him, they’re all classic and well-known. So I signed up for the Kids Book Club to make sure we get books that I may not have heard of. The best part is that the books we’re sent are age appropriate and they throw in a couple of magazines for mom too! I’ll do a full review on the whole thing soon to let you know how we find it.

I’m giving away a one month subscription to Kids Book Club so your kids can enjoy some new books too!

With technology today I think it is very good to pass a love of books to the younger generation.

It’s great that your son loves books from small. My daughter started that way and now she’s 11 and always has to have a book at hand to read.
