When I was pregnant with The Munchkin I cut out caffeine completely! I was even too scared to drink black tea. Which means all I was left with was rooibos tea – and now I hate it! And I LOVE tea. There’s nothing better at the end of a long day than having a cup of tea and I refuse to be deprived of my comforts.
This time around, I’m having about one cup of caffeine a day because now I have a very energetic toddler. And how am I supposed to survive my life without a little bit of caffeine? But my main warm drink of choice is rooibos (and Milo). This time around I’ve invested in different flavours so that I don’t get naar of that rooibos taste. These are some of my faves.
Laager Tea 4 Kidz
Laager’s range of kids tea comes in a bunch of nice flavours but the Caramel Fudge is definitely my favourite one. Although, I’m keen to try the strawberry as well. At R19.95 for 40 tea bags it’s definitely the cheapest tea on this list.
Tea Merchant’s Rooibos Almond Milk
I have two other loose leaf teas from The Tea Merchant and when I saw basically the rooibos version of my Winter Almond tea, I had to have it.
It’s R160 for a 100g tin and like my other loose leaf tea, is sure to last a good long while. I had this as one of my July Favourites because it’s just so indulgent.
This also has The Munchkin’s seal of approval after having a taste and then saying: “Mmmmm, yummy!” and then proceeded to drink my entire mug.
Ingredients include: Rooibos Tea, Sliced Almonds, Cacao Bean Peels, Yoghurt Crispies, Caramel Cubes, Condensed Milk, Glucose Syrup, Unskimmed Milk Powder, Roasted Buckwheat, Malt Corn, Flavourants
Woolworths Rooibos Chai Tea
This is really nice on a cold day. The combination of spices really warms you up and I just really like chai flavours. At R35.95 for 40 tea bags, this is a mid-range priced ta but again definitely not something you’ll have every single day.
Red Espresso Flavoured Tea
My friend Zeenat got these redespresso flavours and I’ve tried the caramel one and it’s sooooo good (can you tell I have a small obsession with caramel? Well, now you know! Don’t let me near a tin of Caramel Treat. I will devour it with a teaspoon). I’ve yet to try the other two flavours but at R59.95 for 10 capsules I think I’ll have to try one flavour at a time. According to Zee, the chai flavour is not the best and if you’re lussing for chai tea it’s best to just make some masala tea for the real flavour.
