Reviews, Things I love

Darling Jane Bath and Beauty Review and Giveaway

The one thing I was really excited about when we moved was that we had a regular sized bath. The bath at our previous place was one of those spa bath things. And while you might think it’s great, it’s actually not. Because it’s awkward to lie in and takes too much water for my guilty conscience to handle. So I rarely took baths.

Anyway, the point is I get to fill a tub up and just lie in it and read. Now what good is a bath full of water of you don’t have yummy things to throw in it to make it amazing?

I’d been following Cape Town based company Darling Jane on Instagram and I’ve been eyeing their products for a while so this was the perfect opportunity to get some things.

Darling Jane offers a range of natural handmade beauty & bath products. They have a range of luxurious Sugar Scrubs, Salt Scrubs, Bath Salts, Bath Fizz, Bath Milk, Bath Tea, Bath Oil Capsules, Lip Scrubs, Lip Balms & Nail Oil to ensure that you are left with healthy and happy skin.

The three things I like most about this company is that:

  • They’re affordable, when I think about how much money I’ve dropped in Lush on bath products, this is but a fraction for far more products.
  • They use all natural ingredients so I didn’t even blink when The Munchkin wanted to join me in the bath. It was all good for his delicate toddler skin.
  • They’re Cape Town based which means that I wouldn’t have to wait days for my stuff to arrive.

I spent so much time browsing their site and I just couldn’t decide what to get so I decided on a Build a Box – for R180 you get to choose:

  • 2x 200ml products
  • 1x 100ml product
  • 2x 50ml product

Darling Jane products

Cafe Latte Bath Fizz

Bath fizz

I call this a deconstructed fizz ball. I like that you can control the amount of fizz that you put into your bath and that you still have left over unlike a bath bomb which is a once off use. This smells deliciously like coffee, because it has actual coffee grounds in it! My skin felt so silky smooth after my bath.

Vanilla Rose Bath Milk

bath milk

They say that Cleopatra bathed in milk and I always thought that was hella fancy but there was no way I was going to pour litres of milk in a bath, stew for half an hour and then let it go down the drain. That’s expensive and probably sticky. So when I saw that the bath milk had actual milk powder in it, I figured that’s the closest I’ll get to bring Miss Cleo.

This smells so divine, very feminine and the rose is not overpowering at all (as a lot of rose scented products tend to be) because the vanilla balances it out.

Spicy Cinnamon Lip Scrub

Lip-scrub

I chose a lip scrub over a face scrub because I already have a face scrub that I love. And also, I love cinnamon so this was a no brainer for me. But I don’t quite get the point of it, but that’s probably because I’m using it wrong or you have to use it over a long period of time to see results. My lips aren’t particularly dry but this will likely come in handy in the winter months. Unless lip scrubs are not for dry lips. I don’t know you guys, I’m not that great at being a girl!

Also, it tastes delicious. The instructions say to rinse it off but I just licked it off. Whoops!

Sweet Vanilla and Fresh Peppermint Lip Balms

Lip-balm

The lip balms are nice too. I would’ve liked the vanilla one to have a stronger vanilla fragrance because it’s really one of my favorites smells in the world. And the peppermint one reminds me of a Chappies bubblegum! They seem like they will last for a good long while and they really moisturize the lips especially with this cold I’ve had for the past week where my mouth has been my primary source of breathing.

    Hello

Just found you blog and love it 🙂 I would like to try the lipscrubs. I think the only other store that has something similar is LUSH and its way more pricy.

I’ve used a scrub from Darling Jane once and I love the idea of a Mini build a box especially as a gift, so the other person can try two or more products.

The Sweet Vanilla Lip Balm just sounds amazing! I think it might be the one thing to put an end to my chronic lip biting, or maybe it will start a new habit for me, chronic lip licking lol
