Currently: Summer Edition
Whats up, buttercups? It’s been a bit quiet round these here parts because we just have so much going on. Between my driving lessons and just general holiday vibes, it’s been hard to sit down and write because life is happening you know?
And on top of all this madness I’ve decided to start a second blog next year, almost like maintaining just this one isn’t enough work but this is a parenting space and I feel like my other interests like books, movies , TV and general geekdom just don’t fit in well here. So I’m working on that site to go live sometime in the new year and I’m really excited.
We’ve also put a pause on homeschooling because everyone is on holiday, so we’ve been playing outside a lot more, doing a lot more crafts and watching far too much TV!
So let’s get into this Summer Edition of Currently.
We recently saw the new Star Wars and OMG! Yes! I loved it. The Husband and I are doing a full review soon so watch out for that.
TV wise, I’m really enjoying Marvel’s Runaways. It’s about a group of teens who discovers they have certain talents and oh, also their parents are villains. The first few episodes are so intriguing and you’re not quite sure what’s going on but you just keep watching.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Vikings are also back on TV and while I’m loving this new direction and feel on S.H.I.E.L.D, I think that Vikings is definitely missing something without the charisma of Ragnar. And while Ivar is insane and both a joy and horror to watch, he can be a bit much.
I’m reading nothing at the moment but the kids are loving a few right now. The Munchkin LOVES One Fish, Two Fish by Dr Seuss. He’s even memorised quite a few of the pages which is impressive. Anything Dr Seuss is a hit right now. He loves the silliness. The Potato is liking Room on the Broom, but mostly because there are lots of pictures of birds in them.
For some reason I’ve been feeling very nostalgic lately and Blink 182 has been on repeat and also Natalie Imbruglia. I mean, talk about memories.
All. The. Things. Not going to lie, fruit mince pies and ice cream are my favourite. Not to mention we have so many biscuits, crackers, ice cream and chocolate around the house. It’s legit summer holidays y’all.
I recently became one of those FitBit people. It was the only thing I got on my Black Friday wishlist. Anyway, aside from showing me how little sleep I get every night, it’s also prompting me to be more active. I purposefully walk around our complex so that I can it my step count and I’ve started working out at home again. There has to be some balance for eating all that crap.
Has been a test lately. God knows I love him to death but he drives me crazy with not listening and then he ends up making very expensive accidents. He’s also become a lot more unnecessarily dramatic lately. If I’m mad at him for whatever it is he’s done he will say “you can go get a new Rushdi” which cranks the guilt dial up to maximum but yoh, this is a difficult age.
He’s also not the best eater. Fruits and veggies are a no fly zone for him so I have to sneak it in to meals like this pasta sauce I make. There’s a lot of bribing and begging that goes on because just imagine he gets scurvy? Nee!
Is still not walking. She’ll be 14 months on the 26th but is in no hurry to walk when crawling gets her places. She can stand on her own, push herself to stand up on her own and will walk if you’re holding her hands but she’s not concerned with taking a step on her own.
She’s a great eater and will eat anything and everything you put in front of her. But she’s been very clingy. Sometimes I can’t put her down to sit next to me and she wants to cling to me like a limpet. It’s exhausting because I can do almost nothing around the house which looks like a flipping bomb went off.
So anyway, that’s us for now. I’m taking a break till the new year. I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season and spend time with loved ones doing fun things and eating delicious foods. And please be safe on the roads!
