Celebrating The Potato’s 1st Birthday
And just like that my potato pudding is a whole year old! I can’t believe!
Oh man, when I realised that we were having a girl I was in a bit of a panic mode. I did not know what the heck to do with a girl. I was very much a Boy Mom™. But this ray of sunshine has been such a blessing. It’s so cliche but it’s true. She’s such an easy kid and despite some sleep deprivation, it’s been a good year.
So one year on and we’re still breastfeeding! And it’s a big one for me because I only reached 6 months with The Munchkin.
She’s such a smart cookie and she amazes me every day. She’s starting to stand for long periods but is yet to take a step without us holding her hand.
She’s such a dainty thing, weighing only 8kg at her 1 year checkup and she’s still in 6-12 month clothes. But this little girl of ours is such a good eater as opposed to her brother. With The Munchkin aside from his usuals there is very little he will try. The Potato will not only eat anything and everything you put in front of her, but also whatever it is that you’re eating.
Which means that my 1-year-old has already had ice cream, biscuits, chips, and sushi (the cooked kind! You can unclutch your pearls). I try so hard to keep my kids sugar-free or low sugar but how the heck can I do that when she is literally screaming and clawing at me to get to what I’m eating.
She’s starting to assert herself more. She knows what she wants and will demand it. She’s also starting to fight back when The Munchkin is too rough with her and sometimes he will end up in tears. I shouldn’t laugh but I secretly do. She’s a feisty one!
We had a low key birthday for her. We wanted to go to the World of Birds because she loves watching the birds out of the window all day but the weather was not the best so we stayed home.
But that was okay because on Saturday we had a small cake and tea for her with the grandparents, her aunts and uncles and cousins. The Husband made her a peach smash cake and a bigger birthday cake too. It was a bit of a fail but he rescued it by turning it into a pudding! Yoh, guys, I got a good one hey.
She’s such a dream and we’re so grateful for this pudding pop.
